To sign an apprenticeship contract, the student must have been in France for more than one year.

If you are applying for a master's degree or a diplôme de niveau I reconnu par la Conférence des grandes écoles,, the one-year requirement to sign an apprenticeship contract is not required.

!! IMPORTANT !! Do not confuse master and mastère, which are two different degrees. A master is a state diploma, while a mastère is an school diploma. Only master's programs or programs on this list allow you to study on a work-study basis from the first year of study in France.

What is a work-study program? You study and work at the same time. Your employer pays your tuition and pays you a salary. You will find the salary scale in a document below.

IMPORTANT: If your acceptance letter indicates that you are enrolled in a work-study program, you must have already found a work-study position before applying for your visa. No student visa will be issued without a signed and stamped promise of employment from your host company.
